ABOUT MOLINOLAB

MOLINOLAB SANCTI SPIRITUS, located in the rural landscapes of Salamanca, Spain, is a unique creative hub dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary collaborations at the intersection of art, nature, and technology. Nestled amidst the serene Spanish countryside, MOLINOLAB provides an inspiring environment where artists, researchers, and creators from around the world come together to experiment, collaborate, and develop groundbreaking projects that blur the boundaries between disciplines.

As a space for innovation and creative exchange, MOLINOLAB is much more than a traditional artist residency. It serves as a dynamic platform that supports a wide array of creative practices—from live coding and digital programming to visual arts, dance, performance, music composition, field recordings, and sensory-based artistic research. The lab’s mission is to nurture artistic exploration by providing the tools, space, and resources needed for artists to push their boundaries and expand their artistic horizons.

MOLINOLAB’s distinctive approach lies in its commitment to integrating natural and technological elements, encouraging artists to develop new forms of expression by interacting with the natural world. By facilitating collaborations that merge creative practices with ecological awareness and technological innovation, MOLINOLAB creates a fertile ground for pioneering projects that rethink our relationship with the environment.

During the BIOPHONY: DANCING NATURE residency in May 2024, MOLINOLAB became a laboratory for sensorial exploration, where nine artists engaged in specific sensory training practices inspired by various contemporary artistic methodologies. This unique experience allowed artists to deepen their connection with the natural landscape of the residency, discovering their own plants and cultivating an intimate dialogue with them through creative processes. The culmination of this residency was an immersive art performance for the local community in Santa Spiritus, reflecting the deep interconnection between human creativity, nature, and technology.

MOLINOLAB continues to be a beacon for creative minds seeking to explore new dimensions of art-making, offering a transformative space where the synergies of nature, technology, and art converge to inspire innovative and meaningful artistic experiences.
